Historic downtown properties receive grant funding for improvements

Three property owners will be able to improve and preserve their historic downtown properties after receiving grant funding through the City of Victoria Main Street Program’s Downtown Façade Grant Program.

The Main Street Program approved 50% matching grants for the following projects:

  • Fossati’s Delicatessen, 302 S. Main St. - $10,000 to install a new roof
  • Rosalie Guest Quarters, 305 S. William St. - $9,253.21 to install a new roof
  • Office building, 117 S. Main St. - $9,970 to remove and demolish awning to reveal the original façade

According to the terms of the program, all projects must be consistent with the buildings’ original designs and must follow the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. Property owners will have one year to complete their projects.

Downtown property owners can apply for grant funding and view program requirements at www.victoriatx.gov/mainstreet. Eligible projects will be funded on a rolling basis as funds become available.

Funding for the program is provided by the Victoria Sales Tax Development Corporation, which oversees the allocation of Type 4B sales tax revenue for economic and community development projects.
